About the role

Atlantic Academy is seeking an ambitious Head of Modern Foreign Languages to lead its vibrant MFL department, focusing on Spanish and French. Based on the stunning Jurassic Coast in Portland, Dorset, the role offers the chance to shape a knowledge‑rich curriculum and inspire students to become confident global citizens.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop an ambitious, engaging MFL curriculum for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
• Champion a love of languages and global culture through high‑quality teaching of Spanish and French.
• Inspire students to become confident communicators and curious global citizens.
• Drive excellence in teaching, learning and student outcomes across the department.
• Support, coach and develop MFL colleagues, fostering a collaborative team culture.
• Promote cultural enrichment, international awareness and real‑world language learning opportunities.
• Foster confidence, resilience and enthusiasm in every learner.

Required profile

• Proven classroom practitioner with a passion for Spanish and/or French.
