Head of Operations

About the role

The Head of Operations will lead purchasing, production and supply‑chain activities for a fast‑growing electronics manufacturing SME. Reporting to the UK Managing Director, you will shape strategy, drive efficiency and ensure the business meets demanding customer timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate directly with key component suppliers and subcontract manufacturers.
• Manage the production department, using KPIs to drive continuous process improvement.
• Oversee sales operations to guarantee order processing within corporate timeframes.
• Administer ERP and MRP systems to maintain visibility of material shortfalls and lead times.
• Control inventory and supply‑chain flow to sustain consistent manufacturing output.
• Set objectives and development plans for a team of 20 staff members.
• Prepare business cases for efficiency projects and enforce Health & Safety policy.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience across complex manufacturing operations covering purchasing, production and supply chain.
• Direct purchasing experience in a challenging manufacturing environment, preferably with subcontractors.

Required skills

• Proficiency with modern ERP systems.
• Experience with MRP software.
• Ability to design and implement KPIs for operational improvement.
