Head of Payroll & HR

About the role

We are seeking an ambitious Head of Payroll & HR to lead a growing global business within the construction sector. Based in London, you will oversee a medium‑size payroll team responsible for processing pay for around 6,000 employees across multiple pay frequencies.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and develop a payroll team, ensuring accurate and timely payment for all staff.
• Drive strategic initiatives that promote continuous improvement of payroll and HR processes.
• Develop, implement, and maintain efficient payroll procedures and policies.
• Support group reporting and provide leadership development opportunities for team members.
• Ensure compliance with UK employment laws and advise on best practice.

Required profile

• In‑depth knowledge of UK in‑house payroll legislation.
• Strong leadership qualities with a proven ability to motivate and inspire teams.
• Experience developing and retaining staff within payroll and HR functions.
• Background in managing medium to large payroll and HR teams.
• Hands‑on experience with HR projects, policies, and employment law.

• Midland iTrent payroll/HR software.
