Head of Private Client

About the role

Join a growing private client department at a dynamic legal firm in South West England. As Head of Private Client you will lead the team, manage a diverse caseload and drive the department’s growth while delivering high‑quality client service.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop the Private Client team across Kingsbridge and Totnes.
• Handle wills, powers of attorney, tax planning, estate administration and Court of Protection matters.
• Maintain strong client relationships with empathy and professionalism.
• Contribute to business development initiatives to expand the department.
• Ensure consistent fee earning through efficient case management.

Required profile

• 6‑8 years post‑qualification experience as a solicitor or chartered legal executive.
• Proven ability to manage a varied private client caseload independently.
• Excellent client care and relationship‑building skills.
• Enthusiastic about business development and team leadership.
• STEP qualification and SFE membership are advantageous but not essential.
