Head of Procurement – 18‑month Fixed‑Term (Hybrid)

About the role

This 18‑month fixed‑term position leads the procurement function for a public‑sector client in central Scotland. Working hybrid, you will provide commercial expertise and strategic direction to a specialised team delivering high‑value, complex contracts that support essential council services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement sourcing strategies that maximise value, savings and innovation.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders across councils and public bodies.
• Oversee the end‑to‑end procurement process, supporting direct reports and ensuring continuous improvement.
• Manage provider performance to secure best value through a robust commercial approach.
• Collaborate with national and local commissioners to embed policy, best practice and social value into contract solutions.

Required profile

• Demonstrable experience in public‑sector procurement.
• Strong commercial mindset with a track record of delivering and managing complex contracts.
• Proven people‑management capability, able to lead and develop a procurement team.
