Head of Procurement – FMCG Manufacturing

About the role

The company is a well‑established FMCG manufacturer seeking a Head of Procurement to transform a reactive purchasing function into a strategic, value‑driven operation. You will lead a small team, work closely with commercial, operations and supply‑chain partners, and shape sourcing strategy for raw materials and packaging worth over £80 million annually.

Key responsibilities

• Define and deliver a clear procurement strategy and operating framework.
• Transition the function from reactive sourcing to proactive category management.
• Drive cost optimisation, value engineering and improved purchase‑price performance.
• Strengthen supplier strategy, onboarding and contract management.
• Implement robust processes, governance and data discipline.
• Lead risk management across commodities, supply continuity and compliance.
• Support growth plans through scalable sourcing strategies.
• Develop and coach the procurement team to build capability and consistency.

Required profile

• Senior procurement leadership experience (Head of Procurement or equivalent).
• Background in food manufacturing, FMCG or fast‑moving high‑volume environments.
• Proven track record of delivering transformation, cost savings and operational improvements.
• Experience managing a spend of at least £60 million and complex supplier bases.
• Strong understanding of ethical sourcing, supplier standards, provenance and supply‑chain integrity.
• CIPS qualification and degree‑level education.
• Ability to balance cost, quality, risk and reputation in sourcing decisions.
