About the role

The Head of Public Service leads the Public Service Team within the Professional Standards Department, overseeing operational business with a strategic perspective. Reporting to the Superintendent Head of Professional Standards, this senior role manages the delivery of high‑quality standards across the team.

Key responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Public Service Team.
Line‑manage two inspectors who set standards for the wider team.
Oversee the handling of complaints, misconduct investigations and counter‑corruption activities.
Ensure trust and confidence in policing by maintaining high professional standards.

Required profile

Extensive experience in public service or policing standards management.
Proven leadership and people‑management capabilities.
Ability to work strategically while managing day‑to‑day operational issues.
