Head of Retail

About the role

We are looking for a Head of Retail to lead the retail channel strategy for an innovative drinks business. The role will shape partnerships with major UK supermarket groups and drive sustainable growth and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Own and develop strategic relationships with major grocery retailers such as Tesco, Waitrose, and Morrisons.
• Lead customer negotiations, annual business planning and joint growth initiatives.
• Create and execute strategies to increase volume, revenue and profit.
• Manage the commercial strategy for private‑label and white‑label portfolios.
• Collaborate with NPD, Production and Supply Chain to launch new products.
• Oversee tender processes, pricing negotiations and contract renewals.
• Analyse market, customer and competitor trends to identify growth opportunities.
• Conduct regular business reviews with customers and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Significant experience in FMCG, drinks or food manufacturing, preferably beer/cider.
• Proven track record managing relationships with major UK grocery retailers.
• Experience leading commercial negotiations and complex customer partnerships.
• Knowledge of private‑label, own‑label or white‑label product development and supply.
• Demonstrated success delivering revenue and profit growth.
• Experience leading and developing commercial teams.
• Strong analytical and financial understanding.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a growth‑oriented approach.
