Head of Service – Adult Social Care Operations (Early Resolution & Safeguarding)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, values‑led leader to provide strategic direction and operational grip across key Adult Social Care services at the front door. This senior role will drive quality, safeguarding and continuous improvement while empowering managers and teams to deliver outstanding outcomes for vulnerable adults in Buckinghamshire.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Early Resolution and Safeguarding Service, ensuring high‑quality, flexible and efficient delivery.
• Develop and embed strategic and operational plans that drive transformation and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with the Adult Social Care senior leadership team, health partners and wider council to align objectives.
• Provide coaching and motivational support to staff, fostering a strength‑based practice model.
• Oversee audit, governance, workforce and emergency planning, turning insights into measurable change.
• Manage performance using data and insight to improve service quality and outcomes.

Required profile

• Significant senior leadership experience in Adult Social Care safeguarding and quality.
• Deep knowledge of the Care Act, MCA/DoLS and safeguarding statutory guidance.
• Proven ability to lead complex risk management and drive improvement initiatives.
• Collaborative, values‑driven leadership with strong stakeholder and communication skills.
