Head of Strategic Procurement

About the role

Matchtech, a market‑leading aerospace manufacturing and engineering business, is seeking a Head of Strategic Procurement to lead and develop its procurement function. Reporting to the Operations Director, this senior role sits on the Business Leadership Team and shapes sourcing, supplier management and cost optimisation strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute procurement strategies, including Make‑vs‑Buy decisions, indirect procurement and subcontracting.
• Negotiate, develop and manage long‑term agreements (LTA) with critical supply partners.
• Authorize supplier contracts, NDAs and commercial agreements.
• Provide procurement and commercial leadership for business‑winning activities, sales bids and contract renewals.
• Manage strategic supplier relationships, act as escalation point for critical issues, and drive performance improvements and cost‑reduction initiatives.
• Lead the Category Management team and establish procurement and inventory KPIs (e.g., PPV, OTIF).
• Develop and maintain procurement processes, policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Strategic‑level procurement expertise with experience in defining procurement and inventory strategies.
• Background in a regulated aerospace or defence manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to negotiate and manage long‑term agreements and knowledge of contract law.
• Familiarity with global supply chains and complex contracts.
• Leadership qualities with experience managing teams and influencing stakeholder communities.
