Head of Student Enterprise

About the role

The University of Leeds is seeking a dynamic leader to head its Student Enterprise programme. This senior position will shape the future of student‑led company formation, nurture entrepreneurial culture, and support the university’s ambition to be a top European hub for student entrepreneurship by 2030.

Key responsibilities

• Strategically develop and manage the Spark and Discover enterprise programmes, including incubation and co‑curricular activities.
• Lead a small dedicated team, delivering business advice, workshops, competitions and events for student founders.
• Oversee grant funding, financial management and reporting for the enterprise department.
• Build and maintain relationships with alumni, business donors and external partners to secure resources and mentorship.
• Collaborate with the Academic Lead for Enterprise, Advancement, faculties, Nexus and Research & Innovation Services to embed enterprise across the university strategy.
• Rapidly assess feedback, adapt provision, and evaluate impact of student ventures locally, nationally and internationally.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading entrepreneurship or enterprise development programmes within higher education or a comparable environment.
• Strong track record of supporting early‑stage ventures, including mentorship, funding acquisition and growth support.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to forge partnerships across academic, industry and alumni networks.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, grant programmes and small teams.
