Head of Third-Party Damage Claims

About the role

We are seeking a senior leader to head the third‑party damage claims function for one of the UK’s largest specialist motor insurers. The role will oversee the full claims journey, ensuring strategic, operational and financial excellence across all third‑party claim activities.

Key responsibilities

• Drive cost control throughout the entire third‑party claims lifecycle.
• Develop and implement strategy based on detailed financial analysis.
• Manage complex, high‑value claims with technical, regulatory or financial implications.
• Initiate indemnity control and operational effectiveness initiatives backed by solid business cases.
• Analyse performance metrics, produce reports and respond to financial results.
• Leverage knowledge of vehicle portfolios, underwriting and distribution to anticipate market trends.
• Oversee supply‑chain relationships with external providers, ensuring performance standards are met.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in motor claims management and a deep understanding of current market trends.
• Proven ability to deliver measurable performance improvements within tight timeframes.
• In‑depth technical expertise in motor liability, credit hire, personal injury and relevant legal/regulatory frameworks.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience with actuarial development triangles.
• High numeracy and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder‑engagement capabilities.
• Professional qualification such as ACII (or equivalent) is desirable.
