Head Of Trade Compliance

About the role

We are seeking a Head of Trade Compliance to lead our global compliance function. Reporting to senior leadership, you will shape strategy, ensure adherence to UK, EU, US and international trade regulations, and support commercial growth across multiple markets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve the global trade compliance strategy and governance framework.
• Maintain policies and procedures covering export controls, customs legislation, sanctions, embargoes and licensing.
• Monitor legislative changes and embed compliance measures across the business.
• Lead export licensing programmes and manage licence portfolios.
• Identify, assess and mitigate trade‑compliance risks, conduct internal audits and gap analyses.
• Investigate potential breaches, coordinate corrective actions and act as primary liaison with regulatory authorities.
• Integrate compliance into sales, supply chain, engineering, product classification and new‑market entry processes.
• Provide risk‑based advice to senior management and governance committees.
• Lead, mentor and develop the Trade Compliance team and deliver training programmes.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in trade compliance, export controls and customs within a multinational environment.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and embed compliance without hindering operational performance.
• Strong analytical and risk‑management capabilities.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
