Head of Training (Belper)

About the role

Blue Mountain Homes is seeking a Head of Training for its Belper location. The role will lead the development and delivery of the organisation’s training strategy, ensuring compliance with Ofsted standards and supporting the professional growth of staff working with children and young people.

Key responsibilities

• Report to the Head of Care and manage the Training Department.
• Design, coordinate and deliver internal training programmes, including mandatory and developmental training.
• Maintain the company‑wide training matrix and ensure all training is up to date.
• Provide coaching and support to colleagues, building capability in behaviour and technical areas.
• Research, attend and disseminate external training opportunities.
• Monitor training effectiveness and adjust programmes based on feedback.
• Develop relationships with external providers and explore delivering training to external audiences.
• Promote a culture of continuous professional development and reflective practice.

Required profile

• Proven senior training experience, preferably in children’s residential care or social care.
• Recognised teaching/training qualification (e.g., Level 3 Award in Education and Training or higher).
• Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes (England) Regulations and Quality Standards.
• Demonstrated leadership ability to motivate and develop a team.
• Excellent planning, organisation and communication skills.
• Full UK manual driving licence and willingness to travel as needed.

Required skills

• Ability to deliver a variety of training methods to suit diverse learning styles.
• Willingness to undertake further training such as therapeutic parenting (e.g., PACE).
