Head of Video – Technical Manager

About the role

The Head of Video – Technical Manager leads the video discipline within a fast‑moving event production environment. Reporting to senior leadership, you will act as the subject‑matter expert, guiding design, delivery and post‑event activities while mentoring a team of technicians.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with senior project managers and clients to design and pre‑plan video systems for large‑scale events.
• Create technical drawings, production plans, budgets and equipment specifications.
• Oversee on‑site installation, operation and safety compliance, ensuring world‑class service delivery.
• Manage equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and post‑show de‑racking.
• Mentor and develop technical staff, fostering skill growth and performance excellence.
• Negotiate with suppliers, drive innovation and maximise profitability using in‑house assets.

Required profile

• Strong technical background in the Audio‑Visual industry with expertise in one discipline (audio, video, lighting, rigging or power distribution).
• Proven experience operating and troubleshooting high‑end AV equipment in large venues.
• Leadership ability to guide technicians and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to system design.
