About the role
Join Forestry England’s Health, Safety and Technical Training team as a Health and Safety Business Partner (Projects). You will lead the development and implementation of H&S systems for the DEFRA‑funded Biodiversity Programme, ensuring a safe environment for staff, volunteers, contractors and visitors.
Key responsibilities
- Shape, guide and embed health and safety policies across the Biodiversity Programme.
- Assess and manage risks for staff, volunteers, contractors and visitors.
- Collaborate with function heads, team leaders and staff to evaluate compliance and training needs.
- Provide expert advice on health and safety legislation and best practice.
- Support the delivery of technical training and competence development.
Required profile
- Proven experience in health and safety management within a large, multi‑disciplinary organisation.
- Strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation and DEFRA requirements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
- Ability to travel nationally and stay overnight when required.

What we offer
- Salary £40,388 – £43,482 per annum.
- Fixed‑term contract until 31 March 2029 with possible extension.
- Hybrid working with flexibility to work from any Forestry England office, preferably in the Midlands.
- Pension contribution of 28.97% and membership of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension Scheme.
- 25 days annual leave (increasing to 30 days), plus bank holidays and additional benefits.
