Health and Social Care Lecturer – Maternity Cover (Brighton)

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Health and Social Care Lecturer to join our curriculum team on a maternity‑cover basis in Brighton. This full‑time, fixed‑term role offers the chance to deliver high‑quality teaching across a range of Health and Social Care programmes and support learners in achieving their academic and career goals.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons for Levels 1‑3 (and higher where applicable).
• Assess student work, provide constructive feedback and monitor progress.
• Offer pastoral guidance and support to help students reach their potential.
• Develop and maintain learning resources using diverse teaching methods.
• Promote equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding in all activities.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment and student progress.
• Participate in curriculum development, quality assurance and departmental meetings.
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the learner experience and uphold standards.

Required profile

• A degree or equivalent qualification in Health and Social Care, Nursing, Public Health, Social Work or a related discipline.
• A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training) or willingness to work towards one.
• Experience teaching Health and Social Care in a Further Education or similar setting.
• Strong knowledge of current Health and Social Care practices and qualifications.
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusive education.
