Health, Safety and Environmental Site Lead

About the role
The Health, Safety and Environmental Site Lead will join the site Leadership Team and act as a key influencer to ensure legislative compliance, zero loss incidents and a strong safety culture across the manufacturing site in Yeovil.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the site's HSE and wellbeing strategy, guaranteeing compliance with all relevant legislation and internal standards.
- Provide practical advice to managers and staff on health, safety and environmental matters, promoting best practice.
- Develop, implement and continuously improve HSE policies, procedures and management systems.
- Drive initiatives that strengthen safety culture, employee engagement and positive behavioural change.
- Coach and mentor managers to build HSE leadership capability and accountability.
- Design, deliver and coordinate HSE training programmes while maintaining the training matrix.
- Monitor, analyse and report key HSE performance indicators to the Site Leadership Team and Group.
- Plan and execute the annual HSE improvement programme, managing departmental budgets and capital expenditure.
- Lead investigations of incidents, accidents and near‑misses, ensuring root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Conduct audits, inspections and risk assessments to verify compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Maintain accurate HSE records and produce compliance and performance reports.
- Stay abreast of legislative changes, industry guidance and emerging best practice.
- Oversee PEFC Chain of Custody certification and support integrated management system development.
Required profile
- Proven experience leading HSE functions within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership and drive cultural change.
- Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
- Experience managing budgets and capital projects related to HSE.
