Health & Safety & Compliance Manager – Part‑Time (22.5 h)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Compliance Manager to lead safety initiatives across multiple sites in the Manchester area on a part‑time basis (22.5 hours per week). This strategic, hands‑on position will shape a positive safety culture, ensure compliance with UK legislation, and support continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and promote health & safety compliance across all operational sites.
• Conduct audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
• Review risk assessments, COSHH statements, and safe systems of work.
• Ensure adherence to UK H&S legislation and industry standards.
• Support ISO audits and drive continuous improvement activities.
• Deliver training, toolbox talks, and safety guidance to staff.
• Produce reports, KPI data, and compliance updates for senior management.

Required profile

• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 qualification.
• Proven experience in a health & safety management role within high‑risk environments such as waste, recycling, logistics, transport or manufacturing.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Desirable: CMIOSH qualification or progress towards it, experience with ISO management systems.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of UK health & safety legislation.
• Experience conducting audits and investigations.
• Familiarity with ISO audit processes.
