Health & Safety Lead Auditor

About the role

The Health & Safety Lead Auditor will join the Compliance team, reporting to the QEHS Manager. You will provide independent assurance that the organisation’s Occupational Health & Safety Management System remains effective, compliant with ISO 45001 and continuously improves.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver internal audits in line with ISO 45001 and the company audit programme.
• Assess compliance with health and safety legislation, policies, procedures and safe systems of work.
• Evaluate risk assessments, control measures and operational practices across multiple sites.
• Produce evidence‑based audit reports highlighting findings, non‑conformities and improvement opportunities.
• Monitor corrective and preventative actions to completion, supporting departments in implementation.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near‑misses, identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Analyse audit data and performance trends to drive continuous improvement.
• Support external audits, inspections and ISO certification activities.
• Build positive relationships with managers, employees and contractors to foster a strong safety culture.
• Deliver health and safety training, toolbox talks and safety briefings as required.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to audit team members.

Required profile

• ISO 45001 Lead Auditor qualification (essential).
• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
• Proven experience leading internal health and safety audits.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 45001 and UK health and safety legislation.
• Experience in incident investigation and implementing corrective and preventative actions.

What we offer

• Salary £40,000‑£45,000 per annum.
• Hybrid working – home and field based.
• Permanent full‑time contract (40 hours/week, Monday‑Friday).
