Health & Therapy Support Coach

About the role

The Health & Therapy Support Coach works within the Student Experience – SEND team to help students with health, medical, sensory and communication needs access their education, develop independence and achieve positive outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Support students with identified health, medical, sensory and communication needs.
• Assist in assessing support requirements and contribute to person‑centred support plans.
• Review care plans and risk assessments to ensure they remain effective and appropriate.
• Deliver targeted interventions and monitor student progress and outcomes.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, support services and external agencies.
• Provide guidance, advocacy and sign‑posting to appropriate support services.
• Maintain accurate student records and prepare reports on caseload activity.
• Promote health, wellbeing and inclusion through events, activities and peer‑support initiatives.
• Support colleagues in implementing strategies and recommendations from health and therapy professionals.
• Uphold confidentiality, safeguarding and GDPR requirements at all times.

Required profile

• Experience supporting individuals with additional support needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, staff and external professionals.
• Strong organisational skills and capacity to manage a varied caseload.
• High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
• Advocacy skills to promote positive outcomes for students.
• Strong administrative and record‑keeping abilities.
• Resilience, empathy and calmness under pressure.
• Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and student wellbeing.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
• Experience within education, SEND, health or therapy settings.
