Healthcare Assistant – Outpatients (Full‑time)

About the role

We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join the Outpatients department at The Park Hospital in Nottingham. This permanent, full‑time position involves supporting patients with personal care, nutrition, observations and basic clinical procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, dressing, toileting, oral care and mobility while respecting their dignity.
• Provide eating, drinking and nutritional support, and document intake as required.
• Offer emotional support to patients and relatives, creating a caring environment.
• Record routine observations (blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, blood glucose) after training.
• Support basic clinical tasks such as wound care setup, catheter care assistance, pressure‑area prevention and use of mobility aids.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas, equipment and trolleys for patient use.
• Collaborate with nurses, doctors, therapists and administrative staff to ensure safe and efficient patient care.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a care or health‑support role (hospital, care home, community or domiciliary).
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions, escalate concerns appropriately and work as part of a team.
• Basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
• Physically able to perform moving and handling tasks.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is desirable.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control and confidentiality procedures.
