Healthcare Assistant - Sexual Health

About the role

The Healthcare Assistant will support sexual health services across Aintree, Broadgreen and Royal Liverpool University Hospitals. Working under the supervision of clinical staff, you will help deliver safe, confidential and patient‑centred care in both hospital and community settings.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe environment, report safety concerns and suggest service improvements.
• Follow infection‑control and confidentiality policies at all times.
• Act as a chaperone, respecting cultural and religious beliefs.
• Prioritise and organise daily workload to ensure smooth service delivery.
• Identify and report child protection or vulnerable adult concerns.
• Prepare equipment, assist with clinical procedures and undertake pregnancy testing and venepuncture under supervision.
• Manage fast‑track clinics using electronic patient records, ensuring accurate coding and timely sample handling.
• Maintain clinical stock levels and report discrepancies or cost‑saving opportunities.
• Keep the clinical area clean and support sexual health practitioners with advice and education.

Required profile

• Willingness to travel between sites and work in community clinical settings.
• Ability to follow Trust policies, maintain confidentiality and act as a chaperone.
• Awareness of child protection legislation and reporting procedures.
• Competence to perform pregnancy testing and venepuncture under guidance.
