Healthcare Assistant – Theatre (Huddersfield Private Hospital)

About the role

This permanent, full‑time position (37.5 hours per week) supports patients in the theatre department of Huddersfield Private Hospital. You will work within a flexible shift pattern, delivering high‑quality personal care and assisting clinical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients with hygiene, dressing, toileting, oral care and mobility while respecting dignity.
• Support eating, drinking and nutritional intake, documenting where required.
• Provide emotional comfort to patients and relatives, fostering a safe environment.
• Record routine observations (BP, pulse, respiration, temperature, SpO₂, glucose) after training.
• Assist with basic clinical procedures such as wound care setup, catheter care, pressure‑area prevention and mobility aids.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas, trolleys, beds and equipment for patient use.
• Collaborate with nurses, doctors, therapists and admin staff to ensure efficient patient care.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a care or health‑support role (hospital, care home, community or domiciliary).
• Good communication, caring attitude and ability to follow instructions.
• Physically able to perform moving and handling tasks.
• Basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) desirable.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control and confidentiality procedures.
