Healthcare Personal Tax Specialist

About the role

An established independent accountancy practice in Old Trafford is seeking an experienced Healthcare Personal Tax Specialist to join its specialist team. The role offers genuine autonomy, long‑term client responsibility and the chance to become a key figure within a well‑known practice serving GPs, medical consultants, dentists, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals.

The practice owner will initially work alongside you, with the potential to take over the portfolio and become involved in long‑term succession planning.

Key responsibilities

• Manage an established portfolio of healthcare clients, providing day‑to‑day tax and advisory support.
• Prepare and review personal tax returns for GPs, dentists, pharmacists, consultants and other medical professionals.
• Deliver personal tax advice and planning, addressing varied income streams, investments and business interests.
• Apply knowledge of healthcare‑specific tax considerations, including NHS‑related income, pensions, VAT and locum taxation.
• Review accounts, identify tax or accounting issues and liaise with HMRC and other stakeholders.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, progressively taking ownership of the portfolio.

Required profile

• Proven experience in personal tax within an accountancy practice, preferably serving healthcare professionals.
• In‑depth understanding of tax matters for GP and medical partnerships, NHS income, pensions and locum work.
• Ability to manage clients autonomously and provide strategic tax planning advice.
• Relevant qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent; part‑qualified candidates are also considered.
• Strong technical ability combined with sector‑specific knowledge of healthcare tax.
