Healthcare Support Worker – Alcohol & Drug Recovery

About the role

This full‑time, permanent position supports the South Glasgow Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service. Working alongside experienced addiction nurses, you will help individuals with addiction challenges engage with services, receive care, and improve their wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Support service users to access appropriate care and addiction support.
• Assist with clinic delivery and perform delegated clinical duties under a Registered Nurse’s supervision.
• Take observations and clinical measurements such as blood pressure, height and weight.
• Collect and process samples, and aid patient assessments and medical appointments.
• Participate in joint visits and community‑based support activities.
• Maintain accurate patient records and update electronic systems following local procedures.
• Provide administrative assistance including appointment booking, telephone enquiries, record keeping and liaison with healthcare professionals.

Required profile

• Previous experience in addiction services, mental health, or a related healthcare setting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and independently.
• Initiative, good time‑management and organisational abilities.
