Hearings Manager

About the role

The Hearings Manager will lead the Fitness to Practise Hearings team, ensuring hearings and committee meetings are delivered efficiently, fairly and in line with regulatory requirements. This senior role works closely with Enforcement, Legal and Professional Regulation teams to maintain high standards of customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop the Hearings team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
• Oversee planning, coordination and delivery of Fitness to Practise hearings, Investigating Committee meetings and other regulatory proceedings.
• Manage hearing scheduling, panel availability and resource planning to meet service standards.
• Provide expert advice on hearing procedures, resolve complex operational issues and ensure statutory deadlines are met.
• Monitor performance against KPIs, produce operational reports and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Support recruitment, induction and performance management of panel and committee members.
• Ensure quality assurance, capture learning points and embed them across the function.

• Proven experience in managing regulatory or legal hearing processes.
• Strong leadership and people‑development skills.
