HGV Class 2 Driver – Flatbed Steel Deliveries (Thurrock)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HGV Class 2 driver to join a leading steel distributor in Thurrock, Essex. The role involves delivering steel products on flatbed trailers, with all loading and unloading performed by forklift or crane, so no manual lifting is required.

Key responsibilities

• Complete 5–10 steel deliveries per day on flatbed trailers.
• Secure loads using straps or chains to ensure safe transport.
• Follow all health and safety procedures and conduct vehicle checks.
• Prepare and submit delivery paperwork.
• Work within a professional steel distribution team on a Monday‑Friday shift, starting between 05:30 and 06:00, with a minimum of 10.5 paid hours per shift.
• Perform overtime after 10.5 hours, which is paid at a higher rate.

Required profile

• Valid HGV Class 2 licence held for at least 12 months.
• Full CPC qualification.
• Digital tachograph card.
• Maximum six penalty points on licence.
• Experience with strapping or chaining loads is preferred.
• Willingness to undergo drug and alcohol testing prior to start.
