HGV Driver – Mobile Medical Units

About the role

EMS Healthcare is looking for reliable HGV drivers to deliver, set up and support mobile medical units across the UK. This is a hands-on role combining driving, unit setup and on-site support, and is best suited to someone who enjoys practical work outside the cab. Driving is only a small part of the job.

Key responsibilities

• Drive rigid vehicles, side loaders and Class 1 HGVs to sites across the UK
• Position and set up mobile medical units
• Support on-site operations and pack down units at the end of deployment
• Carry out basic vehicle checks and minor maintenance, and keep vehicles clean and road-ready
• Complete driver paperwork and stay compliant with Drivers' Hours and WTD
• Carry out site surveys for potential unit builds and ensure risk assessments and site survey records are completed and submitted promptly
• Some yard-based work preparing units between deployments

Required profile

• UK Class 1 driving licence
• Safe, professional driver with a good attitude and a safety record
• Comfortable working away from home and travelling throughout the UK
• Customer-focused, able to work alone or in a team, and happy with hands-on work outside the cab
• Physical fitness, as some tasks require lifting and carrying heavy items

Required skills

• Class 1 HGV driving
• Desirable: HGV driving experience and basic vehicle maintenance knowledge
• Time management and problem-solving

Working pattern

• 5 days out of 7, with occasional evenings and weekends
• Regular overnight trips away from home (overnight allowance paid)
• Short-term work overseas of up to 31 days at a time, extendable depending on business needs

• Salary of GBP 36,000 to 42,000 depending on experience
