HGV Driver Trainer Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HGV Driver Trainer Manager to lead driver development across our transport operation at London Gateway. This hands‑on role combines classroom training with on‑site support, ensuring our fleet remains safe, compliant and high‑performing.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver Driver CPC training, assessments and refresher programmes.
• Recruit, onboard and develop professional HGV drivers.
• Coach drivers to improve safety, performance and fuel efficiency.
• Support Lead Driver Trainers and Driver Mentors across multiple sites.
• Monitor tachograph compliance, telematics data and driver performance.
• Identify trends, investigate incidents and implement preventative training.
• Produce KPI reports and recommend operational improvements.
• Travel regularly to depots to promote best practice and support operational teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an HGV Driver Trainer, Driver Assessor, Fleet Trainer or similar.
• Class 1 (C+E) licence and Driver CPC qualification.
• Digital Tachograph card and relevant trainer/assessor qualifications.
• Strong coaching, communication and analytical skills.
• Proactive approach to driver performance and compliance.
