HGV Technician – Full‑time, Middlesbrough

About the role

Bulkhaul is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join its modern workshop in Middlesbrough. You will be responsible for maintaining a diverse fleet of heavy‑goods vehicles and trailers, ensuring safety, reliability and compliance with MOT standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine servicing, safety inspections and full MOT preparations on trucks and trailers.
• Diagnose faults using specialist diagnostic equipment and carry out repairs.
• Execute roadside breakdown repairs and conduct road‑tests when required.
• Maintain accurate service records and manage parts inventory from manufacturer‑specific stock.
• Participate in a rotating weekend on‑call rota, providing emergency support.

Required profile

• Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.
• Full UK driving licence; Class 1 HGV licence preferred.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and minimise vehicle downtime.
• Willingness to work a shift pattern with weekly rotation.

Required skills

• Proficiency with diagnostic equipment.
• Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems.
• Basic knowledge of electrical systems.
• Ability to perform light fabrication tasks.
