HGV Technician

About the role

Grundon is seeking a motivated HGV Technician to join its Colnbrook workshop. You will be responsible for keeping the fleet road‑ready, supporting the company’s waste‑management mission and ensuring minimal vehicle downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out inspections, servicing and repairs on HGVs, including warranty work.
• Prepare vehicles for annual MOT testing and ensure compliance with manufacturer and regulatory standards.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults.
• Complete service documentation, job records and incident reporting as required.
• Maintain a safe, clean workshop and follow health‑and‑safety procedures, SOPs and PPE requirements.
• Provide guidance to apprentice technicians and offer roadside assistance when safe.
• Support operational needs with flexible shift patterns and occasional cover at other sites.

Required profile

• City & Guilds (Parts 1‑3), NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in HGV maintenance, or at least 10 years relevant experience.
• Valid HGV licence (minimum Class 2) with digital tachograph card and Driver CPC.
• Strong technical knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
• Ability to work reliably to agreed hours and adapt to shift patterns.
