HGV Technician – Port Clarence

About the role

Calor Gas Limited is seeking a proactive HGV Technician for its on‑site workshop at Port Clarence. You will maintain, repair and modify the company’s fleet of vehicles and trailers, ensuring they meet the highest safety and performance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repair work on the fleet of HGVs and trailers.
• Ensure all vehicles are safe and road‑worthy.
• Carry out in‑depth engineering diagnostics and fault analysis.
• Execute repairs to the highest technical standards.
• Operate workshop plant, equipment and tools safely, complying with health & safety legislation.
• Complete all technical documentation accurately and on time.
• Work both independently and as part of a close‑knit team.

Required profile

• City & Guilds level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.
• Proven experience as an HGV mechanic in a similar environment.
• Preferably hold an HGV C+E licence (Class 1) and a current ADR certificate (not essential).
• Strong knowledge of vehicles, trailers, workshop plant and equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and pneumatic faults.
• Excellent organisational skills, able to multitask and meet deadlines.
• Effective communication and the ability to work under pressure.
