HGV Workshop Technician – Stakeford Depot

About the role

Northumberland County Council is seeking a permanent, full‑time HGV Workshop Technician for its Stakeford Depot in Choppington. You will be responsible for maintaining the Council’s fleet of heavy goods and plant vehicles to MOT and LGV testing standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and prepare Council vehicles and plant for MOT and LGV testing station compliance.
• Diagnose faults using road testing, visual inspections and computerised diagnostic software.
• Carry out repairs on LGV “O” licence vehicles ranging from 7.5 t to 44 t.

Required profile

• Level 3 or equivalent qualification in vehicle or plant maintenance.
• Good understanding of DVSA standards and operator licensing requirements.
• Experience working with LGV “O” licence vehicles.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computerised diagnostic software for vehicle fault detection.
• Ability to perform vehicle road testing and visual inspections.
