High Level Teaching Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated High Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive and inclusive school in Blackpool. The role starts in September 2026 (or earlier by agreement) and offers the chance to make a real difference to pupils across primary and secondary phases.

Key responsibilities

• Support the planning, preparation and delivery of engaging lessons.
• Lead whole‑class learning when the teacher is absent.
• Deliver targeted intervention programmes to improve pupil progress.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with diverse needs.
• Assist in assessing, recording and reporting on pupil development.
• Promote positive behaviour and an inclusive learning environment.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and wider staff.

Required profile

• HLTA qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
• Proven experience working within a school setting.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Good understanding of the UK curriculum (KS1‑KS4 or relevant stage).
• Ability to adapt teaching strategies to support all learners.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Required skills

• First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain).
