High Voltage Engineer – Heavy Manufacturing

About the role
We are partnering with a leading heavy‑manufacturing business to hire a High Voltage Engineer. The role focuses on maintaining and improving the plant’s electrical infrastructure, ensuring reliability and safety across both high‑ and low‑voltage systems.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on site electrical infrastructure and production equipment.
- Control and maintain HV & LV electrical networks, completing statutory inspections.
- Diagnose and repair faults on PLC, CNC and SCADA‑controlled machinery.
- Develop and implement PPM strategies to maximise plant reliability and minimise downtime.
- Support continuous‑improvement projects, driving energy efficiency and equipment reliability.
- Identify obsolete electrical equipment and devise upgrade or replacement plans.
- Order and manage electrical spares via the maintenance management system.
- Collaborate with OEM service engineers when required.
- Participate in daily and weekly maintenance planning meetings.
- Conduct safety and quality risk assessments to ensure compliance with site standards and legislation.
- Assist lean manufacturing initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
Required profile
- HNC, HND or recognised Electrical Engineering apprenticeship (time served); Level 3 may be considered.
- Experience in a heavy‑manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills on electrical control systems.
- Experience with HV & LV electrical systems and switching activities.
- Knowledge of PLC, CNC and SCADA control systems.
- Understanding of modern maintenance and reliability techniques, including PPM, root‑cause analysis and problem‑solving.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical engineering drawings.
- IOSH qualification or similar (advantageous).
- Contractor or project management experience (beneficial).
