Higher Level Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support (Full‑time)

About the role

We are partnering with a primary school in the heart of the Lake District to recruit an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant. The role provides full‑time, 1:1 support for a pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) during term time.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver tailored 1:1 support aligned with the pupil’s EHCP outcomes.
• Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil’s individual needs and promote engagement.
• Support academic, social, emotional and behavioural development.
• Implement targeted interventions and monitor progress against set objectives.
• Liaise with class teachers, the SENCO, external therapists and the pupil’s family.
• Maintain accurate records of progress, achievements and support provided.
• Promote independence, confidence and self‑esteem.
• Assist with transitions throughout the school day and during extracurricular activities.
• Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and wellbeing requirements are consistently met.

Required profile

• Recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
• Experience supporting children with SEND and a strong understanding of EHCPs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, resilient, nurturing and committed to inclusive practice.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.

Required skills

• Knowledge of EHCP implementation and person‑centred approaches.
• Ability to adapt curriculum materials for individual learning needs.
• Record‑keeping and progress‑monitoring skills.
