Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Alternative Provision Lead

About the role

A welcoming primary school is looking for an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to lead its Alternative Provision. You will work closely with the SENDCo, teachers and external professionals to ensure pupils with SEND, SEMH and additional needs receive tailored support and can thrive in a nurturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the day‑to‑day delivery of the school's Alternative Provision programme.
• Design and deliver personalised learning plans and targeted interventions for individual pupils and small groups.
• Support pupils in developing emotional regulation, independence, resilience and positive learning behaviours.
• Collaborate with the SENDCo, teaching staff, parents and external agencies to implement effective support plans.
• Monitor pupil progress, contribute to reviews and assessments, and help pupils access mainstream learning where appropriate.

Required profile

• Significant experience supporting children with SEND, SEMH, autism, ADHD and behavioural needs.
• Strong behaviour management and de‑escalation skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families and professionals.
• Calm, resilient and committed to creating a nurturing learning environment.
• Passionate about inclusion and improving outcomes for vulnerable pupils.
