Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Full‑time, Chorley

About the role
We are looking for a confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming secondary school in Chorley on a full‑time basis. The role involves supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering planned lessons when the teacher is absent, and providing targeted interventions for individuals and small groups.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver pre‑planned lessons in the teacher’s absence.
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to improve progress and attainment.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to plan and deliver effective learning activities.
- Adapt resources to meet a range of learning needs.
- Monitor student progress and give feedback to teachers.
- Help maintain a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom environment.
- Promote positive behaviour and support the school’s behaviour policy.
Required profile
- HLTA status or equivalent experience in a secondary school.
- Experience supporting students in Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Confidence to lead whole‑class learning when required.
- Strong communication and organisational abilities.
- Proactive, flexible approach to supporting students and staff.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
