Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Full‑time, Colchester

About the role

Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive school in Colchester from September. The role involves providing classroom support, covering lessons and delivering targeted interventions to help pupils achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day classroom support and cover lessons as required.
• Lead and facilitate learning activities across the school.
• Deliver interventions and support whole‑class teaching in line with the National Curriculum.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to pupil progress monitoring.
• Uphold safeguarding standards and follow the school’s policies.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or HLTA in a UK school.
• HLTA status or relevant qualifications (desirable).
• Strong understanding of the National Curriculum.
• Up‑to‑date safeguarding training (issued within the last year, desirable).
• Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Two professional child‑related references.
