Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Gloucester Primary School

About the role

Academics is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming primary school in Gloucester. The role offers a mix of classroom teaching, PPA cover and targeted support for pupils across several year groups, providing a varied and rewarding experience.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver pre‑planned lessons across a range of year groups.
• Provide PPA cover when required, stepping into whole‑class teaching.
• Support small groups and individual pupils to help them reach their potential.
• Promote positive behaviour and maintain effective classroom management.
• Assist with monitoring and tracking pupil progress.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to uphold high educational standards.

Required profile

• HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience covering whole classes.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
• Flexible, supportive attitude and willingness to work across year groups.
