About the role
This position is for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) supporting KS1 and KS2 pupils in a specialist SEN school in Chelmsford. You will work closely with class teachers and the SENCo to deliver targeted interventions and help pupils with SEMH and ASD needs. The role offers a chance to make a tangible impact on pupil progress within a supportive, child‑centred environment.
Key responsibilities
- Lead a class for half a day when staffing gaps arise.
- Deliver targeted interventions alongside class teachers.
- Create engaging learning resources to support academic progress.
- Collaborate with the SENCo to support pupils with SEN and EAL needs.
- Set learning targets and provide assessment feedback.
Required profile
- Previous experience as an HLTA or Learning Support Assistant (LSA) is desirable.
- Strong initiative and ability to take responsibility.
- Good knowledge of the primary curriculum.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A Level 3 qualification in supporting teaching and learning is ideal but not essential.

- Knowledge of primary curriculum content.
