Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – KS2 – Westminster (Sep 2026)

About the role

The school in Westminster is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to start in September 2026. You will work across Key Stage 2, delivering targeted interventions and supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The role offers the chance to join a supportive, well‑resourced primary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver small‑group and one‑to‑one interventions for KS2 pupils.
• Provide tailored support for children with SEMH needs using positive behaviour strategies.
• Lead Maths and English interventions to raise attainment.
• Cover whole‑class teaching when teachers are absent.
• Collaborate with teachers to plan engaging learning activities.
• Monitor pupil progress and give feedback to teaching staff.
• Promote positive behaviour and an inclusive classroom atmosphere.

Required profile

• Experienced HLTA or highly experienced teaching assistant in a primary setting.
• Strong background supporting KS2 pupils, especially those with SEMH needs.
• Confidence delivering interventions and leading whole‑class sessions when required.
• Excellent communication, organisation and behaviour‑management abilities.
• HLTA status or equivalent experience is desirable.

Required skills

• Knowledge of targeted intervention techniques for Maths and English.
• Behaviour‑management strategies for SEMH pupils.
