Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Liverpool

About the role

Hays Education is partnering with a mainstream school in Allerton, Liverpool, to recruit a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) on a full‑time, temporary basis. The successful candidate will support teachers and pupils, including those with SEND, to deliver high‑quality learning experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver learning activities to individuals, groups and whole classes in the teacher’s absence.
• Provide targeted support for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
• Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in classroom activities.
• Work with the class teacher and SENCo to implement targets from EHCPs, IEPs and support plans.
• Plan, prepare and adapt learning resources to meet individual needs.
• Assess, record and report on pupils’ progress and attainment.
• Support communication, language development and social interaction.
• Promote emotional wellbeing, self‑regulation and positive behaviour.
• Encourage independence, confidence and engagement in learning.

Required profile

• HLTA qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
• Previous experience leading learning activities within a classroom environment.
• Experience working with children with SEND in mainstream or specialist settings.
