Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Primary School

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school team in Hedge End. You will support pupils across whole‑class teaching, small‑group work and one‑to‑one activities, helping to create an inclusive, pupil‑focused learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide learning support for whole‑class, small‑group and individual pupils.
• Deliver whole‑class teaching during short‑term teacher absence using a pre‑determined lesson framework.
• Collaborate with teachers on lesson planning, preparation and evaluation.
• Develop and prepare resources aligned with lesson plans and pupil needs.
• Assess pupil responses, monitor participation and give constructive feedback.
• Promote equal access to learning and support inclusion of pupils with specific needs.
• Apply behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.

Required profile

• Qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant (or equivalent experience in HLTA, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support roles).
• Adaptable, positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively with staff.
• Experience supporting whole‑class, small‑group and one‑to‑one learning.
• Commitment to inclusive education and pupil welfare.
