Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Primary School, Lewisham

About the role

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Lewisham, starting September 2026. This full‑time position offers a varied day‑to‑day experience supporting pupils across the entire primary age range.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver whole‑class lessons when the class teacher is absent.
• Support pupils across all primary year groups, both in groups and one‑to‑one.
• Lead targeted intervention groups to raise attainment.
• Provide 1:1 support for individual pupils as required.
• Collaborate closely with teachers and senior leaders to ensure pupils achieve their full potential.
• Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the school.

Required profile

• Hold HLTA status or have significant experience working at HLTA level in a primary setting.
• Confident delivering whole‑class teaching sessions.
• Experience supporting pupils of varying ages and abilities.
• Proactive, organised and able to work independently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
