Higher Level Teaching Assistant

About the role

Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) are being recruited to support secondary schools in Amesbury and surrounding areas. The role is ideal for experienced teaching assistants or qualified HLTAs who can confidently back up teachers, lead small‑group interventions and occasionally cover lessons on a part‑time basis.

Key responsibilities

• Support teachers in delivering engaging lessons.
• Lead small‑group or whole‑class learning activities.
• Deliver targeted interventions to improve pupil progress.
• Assist with classroom management and behaviour support.
• Monitor and report on pupil progress.
• Provide additional support for pupils with special educational needs where required.

Required profile

• HLTA qualification or significant classroom experience.
• Experience working within a secondary school setting.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Capability to support pupils with a range of learning needs.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
