Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Primary School (London)

About the role

A welcoming primary school in Camden is looking for an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join the team from September 2026. The role offers a varied mix of classroom support, targeted interventions and short‑term class cover across the whole primary age range.

Key responsibilities

• Provide PPA and short‑term cover for teachers across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
• Deliver planned whole‑class lessons when the teacher is absent.
• Support pupils with targeted interventions in English and Maths, both individually and in small groups.
• Assist class teachers with assessment, monitoring progress and supporting children with additional learning needs.
• Maintain effective behaviour management and contribute to a positive learning environment.

Required profile

• Recognised HLTA qualification or significant experience as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant.
• Previous experience supporting teaching and learning in a primary school setting.
• Confidence in leading whole‑class lessons during teacher release time.
• Good understanding of the primary curriculum across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Ability to deliver targeted interventions in English and Maths.
