Higher Level Teaching Assistant – SEMH Specialist (Full-time)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist SEMH primary school in Wembley. The role is full‑time, starting September 2026, and offers a temporary‑to‑permanent pathway.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver targeted interventions to individual pupils and small groups.
• Cover classes across the school when teaching staff are absent.
• Support pupils’ academic, emotional, social and behavioural development.
• Implement and monitor behaviour‑support strategies.
• Work with teachers and the multidisciplinary team to deliver planned learning activities.
• Record and report on pupil progress and self‑regulation development.

Required profile

• Recognised HLTA qualification.
• Proven experience at HLTA level supporting SEMS, ASD or complex behavioural needs.
• Experience in a specialist setting such as a PRU, alternative provision or SEMH school.
• Strong behaviour‑management and de‑escalation abilities.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with vulnerable pupils.
