Higher Level Teaching Assistant – SEN Primary School

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant SEN primary school in West Drayton. You will work closely with teachers, therapists and families to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition and severe learning difficulties, helping them achieve their personal development goals.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver planned lessons and learning activities under teacher guidance.
• Adapt learning materials to meet diverse communication, sensory and learning needs.
• Implement SEN strategies such as visual timetables, sensory approaches and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) methods.
• Promote positive behaviour using a calm, consistent approach.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, parents and carers to monitor pupil progress.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive and engaging classroom environment.

Required profile

• HLTA status or a relevant Level 4 qualification.
• Significant experience supporting children with ASC and/or severe learning difficulties.
• Proven ability to deliver lessons and lead activities under teacher direction.
• Good understanding of visual timetables, sensory integration and AAC.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
